The fômbag does require some "installation" in order to fully enjoy its heavenly comfort. In order to fit an almost 80 lb foam bag into a shippable box, the foam is vacuum packed into an air-tight plastic bag with very high powered vacuums. When all of the air is sucked out of the high quality foam, it can take up to a few weeks for it to fully expand. The small foam pieces will stick together and need to be separated. Almost all of the foam pieces are less than an inch big.

Because our foam is vacuum packed more than some of our competitors, it can take longer for the foam to expand. The advantage to the customer, however, is that you get more foam in a smaller box that costs less to ship.

Unpacking your fômbag   (easiest methods)

1- The cover and foam-filled liner are separate inside the box.

2- The foam-filled liner is inside an air-tight bag which is bound with straps to keep it from expanding and breaking open the box.

3- Take the "foam brick" out of the plastic bag & let it sit for a day. Put the cover on, then begin breaking up the foam while it is still inside the liner. You can break up the foam without unzipping the liner to avoid a foam mess. Simply pry apart the foam with your hands without removing any foam from the liner.

4- Fluffing:  The easiest method for expanding your fômbag is to break apart the foam into chunks and fluff it over the course of a few days. Every day, spend some time breaking up the foam, and then let it sit for a while so the air can expand the foam. Fluff the bag by turning it over, jumping on it, kicking it, and massaging the foam with your hands while its still inside the liner. Remember that most of the pieces of foam are very small and are just stuck together. Any time you feel a ball or clump bigger than an inch, most likely you'll need to break the foam pieces apart so that air can expand the foam.

5- Put a luggage lock on the zippers to prevent small children from opening the cover. You can get the fômbag almost fully expanded within a few days with a lot of fluffing, but it will take up to 4 weeks before it is 100% expanded.

Plan for several days of fluffing to expand the fômbag to near capacity. The more frequently you fluff it, the faster it will grow. Because high quality foam is used, it takes longer for the foam to fully expand compared to standard furniture foam. You can get the fômbag pretty big within a few days, but it will take up to 4 weeks before it is 100% expanded.
